Member Spotlight
Sarah Christopherson
Where do you work?
Waterloo Tent & Tarp (three years this month)
What do you do?
A little of everything but my official title is Marketing Coordinator.
I oversee all of our advertising, marketing, public relations,
trade show events and everything in between. One minute it’s
writing setup instructions for a tent and the next it’s designing
trade show booths.
What is the best thing about your job?
The trade shows – I love the planning involved and getting
to interact face-to-face with people rather than sitting at my desk
in front of my computer. And not many people can say they’ve
attended a carnie trade show (ah, the mullet counting you can do
at a carnie trade show!).
Why did you become a MAC member?
I succumbed to peer pressure soon after being hired at WTT and joined,
but I’m very glad I did! I’ve met many great people
as a result!
How long have you been a MAC member?
This will be my 4th year.
What is your favorite memory of MAC or past program?
The highlights of my MAC tenure, hmm…. Last year’s ADDYs.
I was a little nervous as to how the event would come together as
I had never attended before due to a schedule conflict with a trade
show, but the event was a blast. I love the fact so many people stuck
around to socialize after the event. Also CB5 was a great show of
what MAC is capable of! The speakers were awesome, and it was great
to see so many people turn out for the day!
Have you been on any committees or been a Board member?
I am serving my third year on the board, this year as vice-president
(or so I’ve been told) and again as ADDY Co-Chair. Previously
served as publicity chair.
If so would you recommend this experience to others?
Duh – of course I would. Yes, it’s a great way to meet
and network with others, not only in the Cedar Valley, but also throughout
the 9th District.
What is one thing you are looking forward to this MAC year?
I can’t wait for the socials that are being added to this year’s
line up of MAC events.
What is one thing your wish MAC had or did?
I wish more people were involved in planning events. And a little
bit of shameless self-promotion to go along with that – anyone
wanting to help with the ADDYs this year can contact either me
or Angela Zimmerman.
Who do you nominate for Member Spotlight for next month?
Michaelle Boeteger from Featherlite.
Spare time
What? I’m supposed to have spare time? Well there is grad school,
but I don’t think I’d call that a hobby of any sort.
I love traveling and photography (when I can afford either) and enjoy
reading, procrastination, drinking Diet Dr. Pepper and watching movies.
