Creative Director - VGM Marketing

The Creative Director is responsible for managing the internal Creative Services Team of VGM Marketing, supporting cross-enterprise print literature, website, advertising, digital communications and marketing content. The Creative Director is accountable for consistent branding and high quality customer experiences, and will play a leadership role with conceptual design for major campaigns and corporate communications.  The Creative Director is a hands-on leader, managing the Creative Services Team to maximize the productivity and efficiency of the team resources. Responsible for collaborating with internal stakeholders to prioritize work in support of key marketing and sales needs.  Continuously improve department competencies, refine workflow and optimize tools/processes to support the development of high-quality communications.

Responsibilities/Duties of the Job:

  • Manage and lead the internal Creative Services Team, ensuring that short-term and long-term creative needs are delivered on time and as requested.  Work to ensure that the team is prioritizing work flexibly to support key objectives
    • Oversee the design vision for all literature, advertising, digital communications and corporate communications
    • Provide stewardship of engagement customer experiences, across multiple Sales and Marketing touch points
    • Manage workflow to improve team communications, transparency, efficiency and production of projects.
    • Provide influencing ideas to enhance department productivity and collaboration
    • Responsible for the overall quality of work produced by the designers on the team.
    • Ensure total quality management
    • Work with Marketing Account Managers to set clear expectations regarding job specifications, key requirements and deadlines 
    • Provide team management, including team meetings, training, staff development, and other personnel-related decisions
    • Manage and collaborate with external agency/vendor partners 

 Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree required and advanced design education or related experience
    • Minimum of 10 years of corporate creative, agency or firm experience in executing graphic design, editorial and/or digital marketing projects
    • Knowledgeable of development and design process for the development of print, video and digital programs and ability to reinforce copy/content best practices
    • Strong, hands-on management skills with the ability to lead a diverse team and collaborate with other stakeholders in a collaborative work environment
    • Positive attitude with strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Effective organizational and judgment skills used to resolve conflicting feedback from internal stakeholders
    • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)
    • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

Producer - OnMedia

Position: Fulltime
Location: Cedar Falls, IA

Responsible to develop and produce advertising campaigns, video projects and video classified projects.

 Specific responsibilities assigned to this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops scripts according to the client’s needs. Works directly with the client and Account Executives on creative concepts.
  • Secures production locations and arranges for additional crew members if necessary.
  • Responsible for props, costumes, set design and the direction of all talent during the production.
  • Responsible for selecting music and special effects for the video projects.
  • Responsible for editing functions and to recommends alternative methods for shooting and editing to enhance each production project.
  • Operates all audio/video/photo equipment necessary to complete assignments.
  • Responsible for continuity, quality and content before any project is released.
  • Perform on-camera responsibilities when applicable.
  • Notifies management and technical personnel of repair needs.  May repair production-related equipment as skills allow.
  • Requires regular attendance to report to work per assigned work schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Associates degree in Film/Video production or equivalent experience. 
  • One to three years production experience.

Copywriter - VGM Marketing

Position: Fulltime
Location: Waterloo, IA

VGM Marketing is an internal marketing agency that serves the 27 business units of VGM Group, Inc. The copywriter for VGM Marketing collaborates with account managers and the content strategist to produce action-driven copy for marketing campaigns. This person can adeptly grab attention, influence or educate in few words. He or she produces copy for email marketing campaigns, landing pages, blog posts, social media posts and print collateral. The copywriter is also an experienced storyteller who interviews customers and/or thought leaders and writes compelling feature stories. The copywriter uses wit, heart and the power of words to drive audiences to action. Must be able to provide online portfolio or writing samples, preferably indicating your role on each project.

Responsibilities/Duties of the Job

  • Produce relevant, accessible and on occasion, delightful copy for action-driven campaigns in a fast-paced environment.
  • Seek to understand the audience viewpoint and create a positive user experience.
  • Partner with the creative team of designers and writers to strategize campaign messaging ideas.
  • Research products, programs and services to assist in message and campaign creation.
  • Interview VGM leaders and customers and assist them in effectively communicating ideas, concepts and program offerings in writing.
  • Present ideas and drafts, and modify copy until the client is satisfied.
  • Work effectively from a project management system.
  • Adhere to voice, tone and AP style.

 Position Qualifications:

  • A four-year degree or higher in the fields of journalism, English, marketing or digital communication and experience as a copywriter, writer or journalist required
  • Excellent written and verbal language proficiency

  • Must be able to multitask several projects and show strong organizational and communication skills
