The most memorable TV commercials do the job of selling the product's brand equity with a story. From the Volkswagen spots of the '60s, to the FedEx spots of the '70s, to the Apple spot of the 1984 Super Bowl, to the E-trade spots of today, the art of storytelling has always been an integral part of advertising. That's why TV will always take the lead as one of the the most important media channels for marketing. Alan Rado will discuss this topic with classic examples from the past including his own work.
While at Columbia College Chicago, Alan Rado created the "Get Your Spot Shot" student contest, which has gained acclaim and awards since its inception in 2007.
Alan will share the story of the talented copywriters, art directors and film students who've created amazing work to get their Spot Shot.
From Madison Avenue to Michigan Avenue, Alan Rado has cultivated a unique understanding of advertising from strategic branding to creative execution. Alan has held positions at such prestigious agencies as DDB, DMB&B, and McCann-Erickson Worldwide, to name a few. Alan has extensive experience developing award-winning campaigns for notable companies such as McDonalds, Anheuser-Busch, GM, Mazda and Humana. Alan continues to consult, create and strategize with clients across the country. Also as an adjunct professor, Alan has taught advertising, graphic, and digital design courses at several Chicago schools.
