AAF-Cedar Valley will host Meet the Pros, an event designed to prepare college students for careers in marketing, communication and design, on Thursday, March 4, 2010, from 5 to 7:30 p.m., at the Elks Club, 407 East Park Avenue, in downtown Waterloo. Several local marketing professionals will share what it’s like to work in advertising industry, answer questions, and critique resumes and portfolios.

“Last year at Meet the Pros I got an inside look at what the real world advertising and marketing industry is like,” said Justin Noethe, senior marketing major at UNI. “I also had a chance to network with area professionals and gain insight from their personal experiences.”
“This is a unique event in that it allows students to interact face-to-face with professionals in their field,” said Mike Tyer, Creative Director, Creative Cohesive & Code. “Students are able to ask targeted questions and make valuable connections that can sometimes lead to future internship or job connections.”
The event is FREE to AAF-Cedar Valley Student Members and $5 for student non-members. Students who purchase a student AAF membership at the event, for a cost of $30, will have their entry fee waived. Online pre-registration is encouraged; walk-ins are welcome.
